Igor Alves is an entrepreneur, media and film producer, educator and brand innovation strategist. Alves is Co-Founder and Managing Producer at DreamPlay Media, a creative and original media company, producers of world-class, socially minded storytelling through a cinematic approach. Alves is the founder of DreamPlayTV, a recently announced visual network, and with his brother, filmmaker Yuri Alves, Alves has produced five award-winning short films and an upcoming feature documentary.
Alves served as NY/NJ Media and Partnership Specialist for the 2010 Census, and he previously worked as Director of Operations + Marketing at 24horas Newspaper, and at the multicultural ad agency, Status Marketing. He has 15 years of non-profit leadership experience, including with the American Red Cross and NJ SEEDS.
Alves received a Bachelors degree in Political Science and a Masters of Science in Global Affairs and Economics from Rutgers University-Newark. He has published research in academic journals, presented at international conferences and taught classes in political science, sociology and media / communications. Igor was born in Brazil and grew up in Newark, NJ – where he is an evangelist for the city, and a champion of social entrepreneurs, artists and dreamers everywhere.
