The Power Of Collaboration: Collective Making
Paul Robeson Galleries
Paul Robeson Galleries, Project for Empty Space and the Newark Artist Database present a two part presentation on The Power of Collaboration with Newark based artist group LAND Collective. During Part 2: Collective Making, LAND Collective will discuss harnessing the power of what each artist brings to the collective and the value it brings to what they develop together. This session focuses on the group’s book project LAND as a primary example of such work. RSVP required. Zoom details sent via email confirmation.
For its first publication, LAND Collective joins together to address the central questions: what is our relationship to space and how do we define power? Rooted in Newark, the artists and storytellers, engage in a critical practice that requires self-reflection of their own respective positions and relations to the city, as well as a deep engagement with community and space, in order to offer insights to how we understand, see, and impact the land in which we occupy. The reflections and stories come from a range of diverse voices and perspectives to explore ownership, power, and privilege in our current moment and offer a lens as to how to be more aware of such. Ultimately, through this publication, we hope to encourage the reader to reflect on the central question themselves. More topics covered include: Migration, Protest, Water, and Gentrification.
